We practice specifically on the roads and manoeuvres used at your chosen test centre — Albany, Glenfield, Silverdale, or Orewa.

2-hour test prep package

My recommended option for people nearly ready to test: a focused session targeting your weak spots and the actual test route. $150 North Shore.

Car hire available

Use my dual-control car for your test if you don't have your own. $175 for the restricted test.

Incorrect give way at intersections
Poor observation — not checking mirrors frequently enough
Incorrect lane positioning on corners
Following the car ahead too closely
Not signalling early enough
Failing to check blind spots when changing lanes

I target all of these directly in lessons. By test day, they should be automatic.

Common questions

What are the most common reasons for failing the restricted test?+
The main causes are: incorrect give way, poor observation at intersections, incorrect lane positioning, following too closely, and late or missing signals. I specifically drill these in lessons leading up to your test.
How many lessons do I need before my restricted test?+
It depends on your current level and how quickly you build confidence. Some people are ready in 3–5 lessons; others need more. I'll tell you honestly when I think you're test-ready — I won't waste your time or money sending you in unprepared.
Can I hire your car for the test?+
Yes. Hiring my dual-control car for the restricted test is $175. You must have at least one lesson in it first (for first-time clients). A 2-hour test prep package is $150 and a great option.
Do you know the Albany and Glenfield test routes?+
Yes — these are my home test centres. I know exactly what the examiners look for and the routes they use. You'll practice them specifically in the lessons leading up to your test.
